General
The Costa Maya Region, located on Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, has been identified by the Mexican government as a site for ecological tourist development. Much activity has taken place over the past several years by the Mexican Government to enhance its draw to tourists; such as the development of a cruise ship terminal near the town of Majahual, construction of two airports in the towns of Majahual and Xcalak, electricity infrastructure, and enhanced road access from Chetumal. Costa Maya real estate development is progressing more quickly than any other Yucatan real estate. Further developments in Costa Maya are currently underway and can be evidenced visually simply by visiting the area and watching the construction.
Private Investment
There are many opportunities for investment in the area. Whether you are looking to build a vacation home, to build a retirement home, to start a business, or to speculate in the real estate market, Costa Maya offers many options for you. Investment is now open to foreign investors in the “restricted zone” which has resulted in a large influx of capital from Americans. In fact, a large portion of the land owners in the Costa Maya region are from the United States. Property prices vary depending on lot size (primarily beach frontage), suitability for building, and proximity to the cruise ship pier. In general, beachfront property ranges from a low of $US 40,000 for lots south of Xcalak with mangroves to a high of $US 100,000 for lots near the cruise ship pier. All lots listed on this site are premium lots, with either close proximity to the pier, or beautiful white sand beaches on crystal clear waters. No beachfront lots on this site contain mangroves.
